1. What if don't have a sewing machine?
First try to borrow one or get one second hand. Maybe put an advert in a local newspaper or freecycle website. Sewing machines can be quite expensive and it's better to know what you're after before you part with your money.
2. What am I going to do during the sessions?
To begin with, you are going to choose your project. Be realistic. A basic top or skirt is perfect. If you're already familiar with using a sewing machine, why not try making a dress or a pair of trousers? We will first construct a "toile", which is like a practice version so we can refine the fit. Then you'll be ready for the real thing. Also, time is money so you'll know in advance what you can do on your own before the session. Don't worry, I'm not planning on watching you cut a piece of fabric for an hour!
3. I've seen some sewing courses advertised. Why should I go for private tutoring?
With sewing courses, you commit to a number of classes, with fixed days and times. Also, the teacher's attention is split between the number of people attending. Private tutoring gives you more flexibility and the focus is on what you want to do.
4. What if I can't make the session I booked?
Let me know asap. That's it.
